Making Wooden Waves

This is the process we took to make Animate-able Wooden Waves.



First Dad chainsawed some lime into smaller blocks.





We then planed the blocks into identical cuboids and marked them precisely.





Computerised routers carve pre-modelled CGI waveforms from the blocks.



This block contains 40 smaller waves. They need cutting-up before being shot in sequence.



Here are some wave off-cuts. Animated Waves are used in the short film 'Xylosis'.

This is something I did when I was a student by pointing a video camera at a TV screen to get an Infinity Loop and then filming the results. Different patterns were created by zooming, dollying, and rotating the camera. The VHS footage has since been captured on my iphone.
